Funderland Dublin 2004
|Fairs Previous||Main Index||Fairs Next|
Funderland took place in Dublin for the first time in 1974, making this year's fair the 30th anniversary. The event is run by William Bird Ltd, and has recently been expanded to several other Irish cities. At the Dublin fair, which runs for the two weeks after Christmas each year, the vast majority of the rides are set up indoors in the Simmonscourt Pavillion, one of the many buildings that make up the RDS Convention Center. This is as much for practical reasons as anything else; the weather in Dublin in January can be fairly unpleasant. Some of these pictures appear on the official Funderland web site, where they are used with my permission.
The indoor area is not very friendly for photographers, with rides packed together tightly and large crowds making it difficult to get a clear shot. I've done my best, though please excuse the quality of some of the indoor pictures.
